The rising prices of petrol and diesel have led to a surge in demand for Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles in Nashik district. However, the insufficient number of CNG pumps in the district has resulted in long queues and inconvenience for vehicle owners.
According to official records, there are currently 33,598 CNG vehicles in the district, including cars, two-wheelers, goods carriers, and ambulances. Despite the growing demand, the number of CNG pumps has not kept pace. Presently, only 40 CNG pumps are operational in the district, with most of them concentrated in Dindori, Niphad, Yeola, and Sinnar talukas.
Initially, CNG pumps were only available on the Nashik-Mumbai highway. However, with the increasing demand, new pumps have been set up in other talukas. Nevertheless, the shortage persists, causing difficulties for CNG vehicle owners in refueling their vehicles.
The authorities are under pressure to address the issue and provide better infrastructure for CNG vehicle owners. The demand for more CNG pumps is growing, and it remains to be seen how soon the authorities will respond to this pressing need.
