The Waqf Amendment Bill 2024 was passed in the Lok Sabha today, April 3, after a day-long discussion. NDA MPs supported the bill, while opposition MPs termed it unconstitutional and anti-Muslim. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju had introduced the bill in the Lok Sabha. Taking part in the discussion on the bill, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that confusion is being spread about the Waqf Bill. Opposition parties are afraid of minorities. Waqf Parishad and Waqf Board have been running since 1995. Government property cannot be donated. Donation of your property can be done. The Bill does not interfere in religious affairs.
Amit Shah further said that this bill has been brought for the preservation of Waqf property. We want waqf money to be spent for the development of Muslims. Railway land in Delhi was given to Waqf. The land of temples was given to waqf. The land of Azad Park in Prayagraj was given to Waqf. Muslims will understand that Bill is in their favor.
