Rahul Gandhi and Mayawati have been trading barbs, with Gandhi accusing Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) of helping the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) win elections. Mayawati retaliated by calling the Congress party the “B-team of the BJP” and accusing Gandhi of hypocrisy. Gandhi claimed that if the BSP had joined the “India” alliance, the BJP would not have won the previous year’s elections. Mayawati countered that the Congress party had acted as the BJP’s “B-team” in the Delhi assembly elections, leading to the BJP’s victory. Mayawati advised Gandhi to introspect before pointing fingers at others. She also alleged that the Congress party has a history of betraying the BSP and harming its electoral prospects. The war of words has now drawn in other parties, with Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut supporting Gandhi’s claim that the BSP’s actions helped the BJP win elections.
The controversy highlights the complex dynamics of opposition politics in Uttar Pradesh and the ongoing tensions between various parties.
